After 9/11, there was an American flag flying on almost every home and business. There are fewer now, and some of those are showing their age. From Flag Day (which is Monday 6/14) until the 4th of July, we present the “KLUV Fresh Flag Project”, encouraging homeowners and business owners to fly their flags more frequently, and to make sure it looks good.

KLUV is teaming up with Elliott’s Hardware to offer a special price on flags, and if you bring in your old flag, they will make sure it is properly retired.

Through the 4th of July, Elliott’s Hardware locations are offering a 3×5’ flag with pole and mounting bracket for just $5. That’s below cost. And if you bring your old, worn flag to Elliott’s, they will make sure it is retired with dignity, through the Boy Scouts of America.

Thanks KLUV and Elliott’s for presenting the Fresh Flag Project. The last few times that I’ve displayed my flag, I’ve thought to myself that I should contact a local Scout troop about doing a flag retirement ceremony for my flag. I will be taking advantage of the project.

Thank God there is still obne media station that believes in this country! It really burned me in a major way when I found out that ABC informed all employees it was now against policy to wear flag lapel pins…because “ABC should remain ‘neutral’ about causes”! I cannot believe this! I have fought and bled for my country and our way of life 40 years ago, and given the opportunity would do so again IN A HEARTBEAT! But when our own Commander In Chief refuses to honor our flag, or even place his hand over his heart at a militaty funeral, and now the media is prohibiting employees from displaying their loyalty to this country and it’s flag, IT BOILS MY BLOOD! As well it should every single person who has ever served military duty, family of those persons, and families & friends of those who had given their lives. The time for talk is over…it’s time to take back our countries foundation of principles!

I agree with you Tony I am a disabled vet and my flag flys EVERY day. I dont need a reason to display it. It is a honor to fly it I have 5 flags to retire. As for ABC and being “neutral” maybe they should move to Switzerland and broadcast from there. Either LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT. Our country is great lets start showing it. God bless the USA

While I appreciate what KLUV and Elliots Hardware are doing, I feel that it’s a true shame that this isn’t being offered in Tarrant county. I live in SW Tarrant county and would love to participate in the closest Elliots Hardware is over an hour away.

My husband took me to Elliott’s today and we bought two flags. Our daughter just bought her first home and she will now have a flag to fly. My father served in WWII and I proudly show my colors whenever I can, and not just at home. As for ABC, maybe we should just watch another network. There is not much good on that one anyway. Look at Gary Sinise on CSI:NY on CBS. He always has a flag pin on his lapel. There are many other shows that some of the characters wear the US flag lapel pin.
