Micky Dolenz, best known for his role as lead singer for The Monkees, will release his “King For A Day” album on August 31, 2010. The 14-track album is a tribute to the songs of [lastfm]Carole King[/lastfm].

[lastfm]Micky Dolenz[/lastfm], 63, was born in Los Angeles and was doing screen tests by the age of six. In 1965, Dolenz was chosen out of 400 applicants to join [lastfm]The Monkees[/lastfm]. He was originally brought on as drummer but went on to become lead singer. Most recently, Dolenz directed several PSA spots for NASA explaining the benefits medicine has received from the space program.

    That is great about Micky Dolenz. Wish he woulkd come to Dallas, Texas again someday.
