Add the name of Mary-Lu Zahalan-Kennedy to the list of the world’s foremost [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Beatles[/lastfm] scholars — and she has the sheepskin to prove it. The former Miss Canada finalist is the first person to earn a masters degree in “The Beatles, Popular Music and Society.” She was one of 12 who took the two year program at Britain’s Liverpool Hope University. School officials say it’s the first overall degree — as opposed to isolated courses — based on the music and social legacy of The Fab Four.
