Bo: holding out for another hero.

Bo Donaldson is working hard to reunite his original Heywoods.

The keyboardist tells us that Mike Gibbons, who sang lead on “Billy, Don’t Be a Hero” (also done by Paper Lace) and “Who Do You Think You Are” has sat in with his band on a few recent gigs in California. And Friday night in Fort Pierce, Florida, drummer Rick Brunetti and woodwind player Gary Cubbia will make guest appearances. So far, Donaldson has found six of his seven original band-mates.

What’s he reason for the reunion? Bo’s been offered a chance to open for [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Osmonds [/lastfm]this fall in his hometown of Cincinnati. That was a successful pairing in many cities during the ’70s — including New York’s Madison Square Garden, which Bo says was the loudest crowd they ever played for.
