When she made the announcement on Monday in Iowa that she’s running for president in 2012, Petty’s 1977 hit “American Girl” came blasting through the speakers.
Tom’s manager told NBC’s KELLY O’DONNELL that he’ll be sending out a cease-and-desist notice to Michelle’s people.
Tom is not a big fan of GOP candidates. Back in 2004, he also asked President GEORGE W. BUSH to stop using “I Won’t Back Down” during his re-election campaign.
This same sort of thing has happened before…like when Sarah Palin’s camp played “Barracuda” by Heart to amplify the “Sarah Barracuda” chant. Heart asked Sarah’s people to stop using that song, too. ~JZ.
