[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Brian Wilson[/lastfm]‘s got a real Mickey Mouse project coming up!
This unique album will again reach outside his own catalog, and it promises to be the “best ride in the park.”
Due October 25th, In the Key of Disney melds Wilson’s distinctive voice, harmonies and arrangements to 11 tunes from the studio’s historic catalog — spanning Snow White to the recent Toy Story Three.
Some songs will retain their traditional feel, while others, notably “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” from The Lion King, becomes, according to Wilson, a rock number with a [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Bo Diddley[/lastfm] beat.
While this is the first time Wilson has done a Disney-themed project, he’s often called the studio’s “When You Wish Upon a Star” the inspiration for [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Beach Boys[/lastfm]‘ “Surfer Girl.”
And “Graduation Day,” which they recorded back in the ’60s, was penned by Richard and Robert Sherman, who composed Disney’s Mary Poppins. ~JZ.
