To mark what would be the 75th birthday of [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Buddy Holly[/lastfm], the iconic singer was deservingly honored with a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in front of Capitol Records this morning, and the man revealing it was none other than producer and singer [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Peter Asher[/lastfm].
Peter (who during the ’60s sang as part of the duo [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Peter & Gordon[/lastfm]) joined our friends in L.A. this morning to talk about his exciting new tribute album, Listen To Me, honoring Buddy Holly’s legacy, which features dozens of various artists from [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Stevie Nicks[/lastfm] to singer/actress Zooey Deschanel covering Holly’s biggest hits. The album produced by Peter is already getting rave reviews as fans remember the short life and career of Buddy Holly.

A Buddy Holly fan himself, musician/producer Peter Asher wanted to do something big for the 75th birth anniversary of the rockabilly singer and pulled together a few of his famous friends to compile a touching tribute covers album.
The album, Listen To Me, features a range of artists in rock, pop, blues and country lending their voices on some of Holly’s most famous hits of his career as a way to pay commemorate his influence on music.
“Buddy’s memory lives on,” said Peter on the album just freshly released this week. In addition to his new covers project, Peter is also throwing a PBS special together happening tonight with details on the air date coming soon.
Gary & Lisa of L.A. station KRTH talked to Peter on the creation of this new album and securing iconic artists like Stevie Nicks, Linda Rondstadt as well as modern artists like The Fray and Zooey Deschanel for this exciting tribute to Buddy Holly.
