Nine…count’em…nine [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Melissa Manchester[/lastfm] songs are featured in the recently released independent movie Dirty Girl…
It’s the first film by writer/director Abe Sylvia, a coming-of-age story about a pair of outsiders who don’t quite fit into the high school they’re attending in the conservative town of Norman, Oklahoma.
Apparently, every time the boy in the film gets beaten, he turns to the music of [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Melissa Manchester[/lastfm] for comfort.
The cast includes Mila Jovovich, William H. Macy, JunoTemple, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Tim McGraw[/lastfm] and Mary Steenburgen — who wrote the movie’s theme with Manchester.
Plenty of other hit artists on the soundtrack, too…like [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Bow Wow Wow[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Pat Benatar[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Tanya Tucker[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Rita Coolidge[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Outfield[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Sheena Easton[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Teena Marie[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Wendy & Lisa[/lastfm], to name a few. ~JZ.
