While 2012 is the 50th anniversary of [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Rolling Stones[/lastfm], there has been no announcement of plans to mark it…
There are official bootlegs, DVDs and merchandise in the works, but no news of a tour. One promoter says, “There is simply too much money at stake for them not to tour.”
The current lineup, along with former members [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Bill Wyman[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Mick Taylor[/lastfm], have all been seen coming and going from a London building, where they reportedly met to discuss a tour. Wyman says, “If they were doing some sort of real big special for a real big, important charity, or a special anniversary, or something like that, and they asked me to do it, I would probably agree, provided I would have some rehearsals with them and all that.”
[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Keith Richards[/lastfm], who was in London last month for studio sessions with[lastfm link_type="artist_info"] Charlie Watts[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Ronnie Wood[/lastfm], says he wants to do something. The Stones’ last show was in August 2007 at London’s O2 Arena, the end of their two-year, $558 million Bigger Bang tour.
Now that Keith has had laser eye surgery, he can read the fine print in the anniversary concert contracts. When he’s given some to review with [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Mick Jagger[/lastfm], that is. ~JZ.
