When Texas boy Matthew McConaughey and now wife Camila Alves said their vows this weekend in a private ceremony, no one heard them. It isn’t that no one was around, it is just that instead of announcing their vows to each other and guests alike, the couple chose to whisper them privately into each others ears.
McConaughey, 42, and Alves, 29 are not necessarily traditional, so the choice to switch things up is not something out of the blue. They also ditched the traditional wedding cake for a bevy of desserts and did not partake in a first dance. However, very traditionally, the NY Daily News is reporting, Camila will take her husbands last name and dump Alves all together.
The party started Saturday and in true McConaughey fashion lasted well into Sunday morning. Guests who were able to stay the whole night were treated to good southern cooking by Guy Fieri.
The couple has been together for six years and have two children, son Levi, 3, and daughter Vida, 2. Matthew popped the question last Christmas.
“We’ve been living a married life for over six years now,” the new Mrs. McConaughey told ET Canada in March. “We have homes together, we have family together, we have kids. We’ve built a life together. So we’ve been living a married life this whole time.”
