June 30th, 1966: The Beatles play the first of two nights at the Nippon Budokan Hall in Japan. Each show had 3,000 police for 10,000 fans. Both performances were filmed, and two songs were released on The Beatles Anthology 2 album.
The recording quality for these shows was perhaps the best for any Beatles concert, however their performance was not the best. They still had trouble hearing themselves play, and many of the songs from the Rubber Soul album were harder to play live.
