July 10th, 1964: The Beatles make their triumphant return to Liverpool after “conquering the world.” They’re greeted by an estimated 200,000 people, lining the streets, and greeting them at Liverpool Town Hall. John Lennon, reminded of Hitler’s Nuremberg rallies, gives the “Sieg Heil” salute to the crowd.
This is also the opening day for the movie “A Hard Day’s Night” in Liverpool; at the Odeon Cinema.
