The best looking doctor on TV until George Clooney appeared, Chad Everett has died.   He was 75.

The L.A. Times is reporting that the star of the 1970′s hit drama ‘Medical Center’ passed at his home after an 18 month battle with lung cancer.

Everett, best known for playing Dr. Joe Gannon, had an acting career that spanned more than four decades.    He was nominated twice for a Golden Globe for his role in ‘Medical Center’.  The show ran for seven seasons but Everett’s career didn’t stop when it was cancelled.

He appeared on ‘The Love Boat,’ ‘Murder She Wrote’ and more recently ‘Supernatural’ and ‘Castle.’

Everett is survived by two daughters and six grandchildren.  His wife of 45 years, actress Shelby Grant, -who appeared opposite him on ‘Medical Center’ as a dying young woman – passed last year.
