August 10th, 1964: Four Beatles singles were released on the “Oldies 45″ label, attempting to capitalize on the group’s popularity.
All four singles had been previously released on either Tollie or VeeJay Records. These new releases never made it to the top 40 on the Billboard charts. The Oldies 45 label was Capitol Records’ attempt to make up for passing on these songs originally.
