Ever wonder how your favorite songs would sound in language that sounds nothing like our own? Well thanks to Olympic Silver Medalist Heiki Nabi we now know what Queen‘s ‘We Are The Champions’ sounds like in Estonian. The Nordic country won two medals in London and when Greco-Roman wrestler Nabi was welcomed to his hometown of Kärdla, on and island in the Baltic Sea, the towns folk broke out the Queen anthem.
It’s obvious that the word “Champion” doesn’t have a counterpart in Estonian but the language has little to no other relationship with English. It is interesting to hear this song in a different language. It’s also really cool to see a whole town supporting their Olympic hero like this.
