If you’re feeling information overload, there’s a good reason: on a typical day, we take in the equivalent of about 174 newspapers’ worth of information, five times as much as we did in 1986.

This New York Times article, ironically, can help!

“Every status update you read on Facebook, every tweet or text message you get from a friend, is competing for resources in your brain with important things like whether to put your savings in stocks or bonds, where you left your passport or how best to reconcile with a close friend you just had an argument with.”

As far as solutions for productivity, creativity and more energy, we should partition our days into project periods. Our social networking should be done during a designated time, not as constant interruptions to the day.

The article takes longer to read than most in our short-attention span world… but I found it more than worthwhile!
